What I would do if I was a guy with boy parts

This is the eagerly anticipated response to my post on Sunday asking you guys for some random questions for me to answer. Surprisingly, I managed to have 3 questions asked, which is 3 more than I expected therefore I am very happy! Thank you to all my regular readers - you know who you are! You're awesome.

Question 1:
Hello there Andy! And that is a good question - I have put alot of thought into this and there would probably be so many things that I would do if I was a boy. You hear alot of talk about gender equality but to be honest, having an XY chromosome makes a huge difference to if you have an XX chromosome, simply because we biologically built differently, so it would be stupid if we were all treated 100% the same.

All of that aside, the first thing I would do if I miraculously turned into a guy, I would put my hands down my pants. BEFORE you all judge me for being crude and disgusting, this is not to do what I can imagine what you are thinking that I would do!
Yes it's the return of Dwayne, the common chav. Fo'shizzle. Check him out in my previous post!
Many of my male friends have told me on various occasions that it is quite warm down there, hence why they always seem to have their hands down their pants, NOT doing what may be commonly assumed. I'm not too sure if I 100% believe this, so if I had the opportunity, I would like to experiment and see for myself!

Question 2:
Hi "Anonymous" commenter! How are you today? Now, this is a tricky question, but if I had to pick someone in the whole world it would obviously be...

...FIONA, Princess Fiona from Shrek!
I worship thee.
Honestly, she is just such an inspirational fictional character, with such a big heart! She gives up her delicate, feminine beauty to become a grotesque green ogre for all eternity, simply because she is in love with one herself, and willing to make that selfless sacrifice. Also she is an expert in hand-to-hand combat with knowledge of Japanese martial arts, so she could also woop your arse. All in all, I think she is such a positive role model for everyone out there, and I love her so much. To show my dedication towards her, I am even forcing my Glee Club to sing a Shrek medley to celebrate her sheer godly-ness.

Question 3:
Yo MP! Oooh, good question, and to be honest, I don't think I have a straight answer. If you think back to what civilisation was like back in 1012, it is so completely different to what it was like now, so I cannot even imagine what it would be like in 3012. I doubt what happened in Wall.E would ever happen in reality, although I can imagine natural disasters exacerbated by global warming causing severe devastation to the planet - perhaps even a supervolcanic eruption? And as for Star Wars? I'm going to embarrass myself and say that I have never watched it before, but if we all end up with light-sabres, that would be cool. One of my favourite TV shows - Futurama - is set in the 3000s, and if the world ends up anything like it did in the television series, I would be happy.
Toodle-loo!

P.S. I might make this a monthly feature on my blog, so if you want me to answer anymore questions, post them below in the comments section, and I'll most probably feature them in a future post. :)

I'm thankful for...

I feel like I haven't written a talky-talky post is quite sometime, so I am going to do one for today's BEDIHT (Blog Every Day In Half Term). On Wednesday, my friend Stripeytofu, wrote his post: "I'm thankful for...", and I'm going to write my own version of it in response to it.

WARNING: THIS IS A WAFFLY, BADLY STRUCTURED AND A MARATHON OF A POST, SKIP TO THE BRAIN AT THE END FOR A SUMMARY

My Parents:
Obviously my parents are who I am most thankful for, as most people would say. This is because they are usually the people in the world who  teach you some of the most important and basic skills required for a successful life: what is right and wrong; how to converse and communicate and how to look after yourself, so hopefully one day, you can leave the nest, live your own life and pass on these skills to the next generation - it's basic biology.

Now as for myself, I may not have a story as poignant as Stripeytofu and even though I may have not appreciated it at the time, I am eternally grateful for what they have taught me and done for my upbringing.
  • Independence
    • I personally think that I am a very independent person for my own age (you can be the judge of that). This is mainly because my parents have given me so many opportunities to explore the world by forcing me do things, which to begin with may feel scary, but is something vital to learn. For example, I have been to a variety of places by myself, plus I also went on a plane to Finland for the first time when I was 11, which at the time, was really nerve racking, but now I know how to navigate an airport. It has taught me try new things, take the risk and not be afraid.
    • I also think that this independence has made me very self-motivated. I strive to achieve, not because my mum is going to shout at me if I don't, or to impress to parents, but for my own satisfaction. Even though perhaps, deeper down that may be still a reason, but it is not the sole reason. If I achieve an A* in an exam, I don't go telling my parents, or anyone else for a matter of fact. I try to be pro-active as possible, and find my own opportunities, than relying on other.
      • Eek, I just realised these two paragraph makes me sound so egotistical and I hate talking about myself, so don't judge me And no, I am not using reverse psychology.
  • Appreciating other cultures and travel
    • This is something that is a huge part of my life, and is something I am extremely, extremely thankful for. Being a BBC means that I have been able to appreciate two different cultures, and my parents have done very well to try and bring alive my cultural heritage. We go on holiday almost every year to a variety of countries. These holidays, however, are never just sun bathing on the beach. I always manage to learn something from these holidays to places of cultural/historical importance. I feel like appreciating other cultures is absolutely imperative for the future as the world is becoming increasingly globalised, and multicultural. Cultural understanding and acceptance is the key living harmoniously together (I sound like Confucius or someone!). I am going to write a more in depth post on this subject later this week, as I feel like a measly paragraph cannot do it justice.
    • Obviously, I am thankful that my parents have the time and money to take me on holiday, as I do realise that lots of parents aren't able to do that, so thank you!
  • Modesty
    • This is almost a paradox by saying this, but I thank my parents for making sure that I'm always modest - lol, what a hypocrite.
  •  Violin lessons
    • Again I am not attempting reverse psychology or anything, but I do not think I am very musically talented in anyway, at all. Why are you grade 8 violin I hear you ask? Well, I think it's simply because my parents have been sending me to music lessons since I was 7, and I practise (sometimes!). This is all thanks for my parents, especially since music lessons are so PAINFULLY expensive.
  • Taxi driving
    • Some of my musical activities are very far away, so thank you Dad for driving 60km a day for a week, for my music course! Also, I must mention that my school is 15 mins away from our house and there is no bus, so thank you for driving my sister, others and I to school every day for the 11 years - now that's dedication.
  • Having a love for food
    •  Something that is a HUGE part of my life is - of course - food. My parents have taught me something, which I am SOOO grateful for, and that is to not be picky with food. I can honestly say I am probably the least picky person you could ever come across. This is probably because I love food so much and that my parents fed me some food from a young age, which you guys may find rather bizarre/grotesque/stomach turning, but I find delicious! For example, in this week alone, I have eaten frogs legs, pigs ears, and fish cheeks.
  • Culinary skills
    • My mum is a whizz in the kitchen and has passed on a few tips to me about food preparation, but I really hope to learn as much as I can before I leave for university.

The Internet:
We are the first generation who cannot remember a time without the Internet, or a personal computer, thus in that sense, I am so grateful to live at a time in history when technology is so quickly evolving and changing our lives.

Why it's so cool:
  • If anyone has any problem they need solving, type it into Google and BAM, there you go, an answer in around 0.15 of a second.
  • They say the uprising and revolutions in the Middle East were catalysed by social media via the Internet.
  • Over 35 hours of video is uploaded to Youtube every minute.
  • Imagine if North Korea had the same level of technology and accessibility to Internet as South Korea, and everyone suddenly became computer-literate, what would happen?
  • We can't deny that we do enjoy those Internet memes such as the troll face, nyan cat or rickrolling.

What optimises the Internet - in my eyes - is that there is freedom of speech, and when there is opposition against it, such as SOPA/ACTA/PIPA, a huge backlash is prevalent. That is why I do believe that when governments do block/regulate the internet (such as the Great Firewall of China), it can be so detrimental. That, and also the fact that it does enable opposite sides of the globe to be connected in milliseconds, linking into the ideas of increasing globalisation and other points I mentioned earlier.

Anyway, I enough about all that deep stuff. I really should do some more research before these types of posts - I don't claim to be a expert in this topic! Back to what I was getting, I am also so thankful for blogger, as doing BEDIHT, has made me realise just how much I enjoy doing it, and being able to express my views online, even if no one is reading it.

Future Posts:
  • Being a BBC (British Born Chinese)
    • Drinking culture vs Food culture
    • Cultural intolerance and Stereotyping
      • (They sound so lame, but they will be enlightening!)
Okay, that was a really long post. Sorry if my writing and grammar is a bit flouncy and incoherent- I am in a weird essay writing mood (what has the world come to!) and I think I went off on a tangent on quite a few subjects. I am a pseudo-intellectual, at least at the moment!
In summary, I am thankful for my parents for teaching me everything I know, and the internet for being awesome.

Hasta la vista,

Rebecca x

Tag! You're it!

Here is this yet another pointless post, me answering some random questions and answers about me… fun times.
Nicknames?
Roboco, Rebok, Wangsypoo, Wango, Mango, Banana, Becca, Becky, Bex etc.
But I always just stick with Rebecca.
Self Portrait

Favourite subject?
Resistant materials. If you don’t know what that is, it is not just drilling/sawing/ planning/ sanding wood. It’s more than that… it’s a way of life. Nah, being serious, most design and technologies actually involve very little practical. We seem to spend most of our time drawing designs and learning theory, which I really enjoy. A close second would be chemistry and in third place would be another science or maths.
Albert Feleinstein returns with a chemistry joke!
Wow, I'm such a nerd.

For more witty and banterous science jokes, I Can Haz Cheezburger has a extensive selection.

Favourite drink?
I used to love drinking fruit juice - especially orange juice - but drinking so much from a young age has had a detrimental effect on my teeth (acidity). I do like some plain H2O most of the time (Wow, I’m literally so lame.) I am slowly warming up to (English) tea; I was never really a heavy tea drinker. Would soup count as a favourite drink? If so, I would say that potato and leek, or a warm rustic pumpkin soup etc. Mhmm…

Favourite band/artist?
I can vividly remember someone asking me this exact question when I was roughly 7 years old. I replied “Green Day”, even though I don’t think I had listened too much of their music. It may just have been because Green was my favourite colour at the time, and I thought that if I said a rock band, they would think I was cool. But throughout years after that occasion, I grew to love them, and they DID become my favourite band. I don’t really listen to them much more – they haven’t made a new album in sometime. 21st Century Breakdown was slightly disappointing compared to American Idiot, but they do have a Broadway musical which sounds awesome. As for now, I like too many bands and artists to just have one favourite. Go on my Facebook profile if you want to see a more extensive list of people I like.

What would you name your kids?
Hmm, good question. I have always liked names which are unusual/uncommon, but are known as being names. Being called Rebecca, I have always been in a class where there have been multiple people of the same name. I like names that are original, but aren’t so unique that no one can pronounce it. I like Evelyn for girls, Felix and Harrison for boys.

Any pets?
Well, we keep fish, but they are very, very, very old and most of the time, they are belly up… Fish suck, once they die, I don’t think we should look after them anymore. It must be quite monotonous swimming around a tank in circles whilst being blinded by a blasting light from above.

Favourite colour?
My favourite colour has changed several times in my lifetime so far. The first colour in my living memory that I can remember liking was blue, then turquoise, orange, purple, green and now I suppose my favourite colour is red maybe? Everything that I seem to currently to be buying/dying is red: school bag, ukulele, hair. However, my favourite group of colours would include burgundy, wine, navy, silver, black (even though not technically a colour).
This nebula pretty much sums up all my favourite colours. Pretty.

Favourite movie?
I like Moulin Rouge and Mulan / Aladdin or some other random Disney movies (they are my childhood!). It’s not my favourite movie, but I watched Ip Man the other day and it is a very good. I’m not really that knowledgeable when it comes to movie though, I don’t watch that many compared to most people!

Favourite year of life?
I have terrible memory, thus can’t really remember my younger years more that vividly, but that suggests to me that they mustn’t have been that interesting. My favourite year, by far, would’ve been year 9: 2010. It was a good year at school: good stable group of friends and it’s a bit of a pointless year as there are no major exams and most people doss around in lessons anyway since they aren’t going to pursue it to GCSE. The holidays were what made it though. In January, I went to Finland to visit my uncle and also go skiing which is always lovely, and then in Easter and summer, I met some of the best people I have ever known at camp, and made some truly awesome friends.

Favourite quote?
Live to eat, not eat to live. (I’m a fatty at heart)
Life goes on.

What type of phone do you have?
At this current moment none, since I have managed to lose my indestructible and terrible Nokia (argh!). I hope that my dad will now buy me a new phone. ;)

How tall are you?
Short.
"You're so short, you smell of feet!" I hear you cry.

I personally feel like all I seem to do on this blog is talk about me. I acknowledge that it is suppose to be my own personal creative space, but I feel like I end up always talking about my life, which really isn’t the interesting. However, I do like the concept of a “tag” game online, where basically you answer some questions, and then tag someone else to also respond to the questions. I would love to get to know all of you guys better too, so, I TAG:

And anyone else who wants to answer these questions in the comments!
Here are the questions complied together:
1.       Nicknames?
2.       Favourite subject?

4.       Favourite band/artist?
5.       What would you name your kids?
