Christopher Kane is a Genius

I must admit, I know very little about runways/ catwalks/designers/ textiles etc. However, as I was researching into Christopher Kane for an up and coming blog post, I came across all his designs and oh my, they are so wondrous. Regardless of the fact that he is the only designer that I have looked into, but I have decided from this point forward that he is my favourite designer!

The vast majority of his clothes are surprisingly wearable, and it's quite fascinating as many of his designs have then been replicated on the high street and can be seen on various street style blogs as trends. They all seem to have one major theme running through each design, supplemented and supported by a minor theme too. He seems to focus mostly more on the actual fabric and/or pattern of the garment and embellishments, rather than the actual structure and silhouette of the piece. I also really like all the shoes in outfits too, especially the wedges in the PC 10. Basically, they are amazing and really inspiring.

Below are some of my favourites from some of his collections. I haven't included every collection, but these are my favourites. I've spent the last 2 hours print screening then cropping each of the outfits and lastly complied them together in a row, so I hope you enjoy them!
Pre Collection SS 12 - Rainbows and Foil
Spring Summer 09 - Scallops and Gorillas

Pre Collection 10 - Nuke Clouds
Autumn Winter 10 - Leather and Embroidery
Pre Collection Spring Summer 11 - Cosmic Nebulae (!!!!!)
Autumn Winter 07 - Leather and Velvet (my favourite collection hence why there are so many images)

My favourites from all the collections
Words cannot describe the epicness of all these images

Sayonara.

P.S. Yes, I have been a crap blogger - I apologise.
P.P.S Yes, I know I said I was going to start another blog for these kind of posts, but then I realised, if I can't even blog regularly on one blog, what's the point of having two if I won't be able to update regularly?!
P.P.P.S I am going to attempt to write two posts tomorrow. Yes a tall order, but I have been lacking recently!
P.P.P.P.S Okay it's turned 0.00am, so I think I'm going to end up posting 3 posts today!
P. P.P.P.P.S. Must curb my use of exclamation marks - they lose their effectiveness if you scatter them everywhere.

Favourite Youtubers

I was going to write a boring post about trains today, but then instead I thought to myself, who cares.... I'll do one of about my favourite Youtubers for BEDIHT day 3!

I far too much time on this website, as I am sure you do too. I am subscribed to almost 300 people on it, even though I have recently decided to unsubscribe to as many people as possible. It's just too tempting to click on a video on the subscription list, and then spend half a day going through all the videos on the channel. Plus, alot of the people that I am subscribe to, no longer interest me since my taste in videos have changed.

I think I first started watching Youtube videos in 2007-ish. This was when I first started getting into make-up and beauty, and at this point the beauty community was much nicer, less bitchier and I felt like I was actually learning about it from the videos. I am still subscribed to loads of those beauty "gurus", but I find that some videos are so repetitive, really poorly made and often unrelatable. There are make up artists (such as Lisa Eldridge) who have decades of professional experience in the trade making videos; I don't need a 14 year old girl to teach me how to do my eyeliner too.

Anyway, here are my favourites:

KickThePj
I think that his videos are all so fantastically animated, drawn and edited- it is obvious that alot of time and effort have been taken in them. And those eyes!
Favourite Video?

It's so peculiar, I love it!

brettdomino
Brett Domino and Steven Peavis are the epitome of cool. Geeky is the new sexy.
Favourite Video?

grav3yardgirl
I think that this is one of those beauty channels that I was just ranting about, but I think Bunny has to probably one of the funniest people I have ever come across on all the interweb. Plus her eyes and shoe collection is absolutely awesome.
Favourite Video?
I don't have a favourite video - all of her videos make me feel happy - but is a random recent one.

sortedfood
I think I can thank Sorted for helping me improve my culinary skills! Plus, whenever I watch their videos I get so hungry!
Favourite Video?

This simply because I use this recipe so often for an instant chocolate cake!

ClothesEncounters
If I had to only watch one channel, this would be the one that I would chose. As you can probably tell at the moment, I am really into thrifting, fashion and clothes and Sarah has a fantastic sense of style. It's so inspirational.
Favourite Video?
This is by no means my favourite video since I love all of their outfit videos. I want some disco pants, plus all of Jenn's platforms! I do miss Sarah's presence in their videos though. :(

I realise that probably not will be interested in quite a few of these channels, since they are often quite specific, but I hope you got something out of this quick blog post!

What are your favourite Youtube Channels? Tell them me in the comments.

Tah-tah for now.

Jewellery

I love jewellery. There is no doubt about it. Here is my ethos when it comes to collecting jewellery.
  1. I rarely spend more than £1 on each item of jewellery because...
      1. Jewellery is generally quite cheap to produce, so I think it's absolutely ridiculous for some shops to sell a pair of earrings for £15.
      2. Most jewellery from high street shops are absolutely TERRIBLE quality. Very few items that I own haven't broken within a few weeks of purchase, so usually end up having to be soldered back together/ fixed with pliers/ super-glued back together by either me or my dad.
      3. I will probably lose it. Making this post has made me realise just how many of my favourite items are missing. They are just so small, and easy to lose, most of my items are probably sucked up in the vacuum, or in a field somewhere.
  2. I don't buy...
      1. Really beady jewellery. It's just not my thing. I do like pearls and turquoise though.
      2. Cheap, chained metallic necklaces, because I think that I'm probably allergic to it, since it can be really irritating on my skin. I only wear the ones that I currently own under a collar or something similar to provide a barrier between the metal and skin.
      3. Long, dangly earrings, mainly because I have a phobia of my earlobes stretching or ripping. I am being deadly serious, as I have honestly had recurring nightmares about this happening, and it is very traumatic.
So yes, here are a few of my favourite items of jewellery, catagorised into themes (click the pictures to see them larger!) They are mostly from the Topshop sale or Accessorise sale, since you can get items for actually reasonable prices.
Tribal and Ethnic

Here is a real mish-mash of stuff from all around the place. Surprisingly, most of these items are from lots of different places that I/family members have traveled to. I absolutely love the yak skull necklace (which I got from I almost went to Tibet last year)and the large silver necklace, just need to think of a way to wear them out more! Not too sure why I have 3 turquoise earrings though.

Studs and Skulls

This group of jewellery are the items I actually wear the most frequently, by far! Possibly my favourite item (ever!) is my brass pyramid earring (right hand bottom corner) but as you can see, there is only one, as I lost the other one at a party, leaving me distraught. I am ever on a search for a replacement, but I can't seem to find any as good. Loving the collar-esque necklaces at the moment.

Girly and Kitsch

These items are all quite old, but I don't really wear them much at all at the moment, as my style has changed.  I still love my Winnie the Pooh bracelet though (which I dad actually found on the floor - we aren't hobos, honest), but it is currently in need of a new battery.

So there you go, just a peek inside my jewellery collection, as this literally isn't even half of it. I am still upset that I have lost my favourite fish bones dangly earrings and blue and gold earrings, since they are some of my favourite items. This is why in half term, I'm planning on making some sort of jewellery solution, to actually store these items. At the moment, I've got this make shift Ferrero Rocher box which I drilled holes in to store my earrings.

At the moment, I have lots of items that I want to buy, such as some collar tips, body armour necklaces, evil eye rings, ear cuffs, more collars etc. But this is the only item that I'm really craving.
Opal Studs by Regal Rose

Cool tings,

Rebecca x

P.S. Please excuse my terrible attempts at some arty-farty depth of field. I also didn't bother editing the colours/ cropping the images too, as my laptop is far too slow, so they are look really grey. Once I sort things out (such as the dimensions of this blog) I will have better clearer and larger images for you guys.
P.S.S I have been really liking this one song, need to check out some more of their songs!

It reminds me of Sleigh Bells - (who's new song "Comeback Kid" sucks.)

Tag! You're it!

Here is this yet another pointless post, me answering some random questions and answers about me… fun times.
Nicknames?
Roboco, Rebok, Wangsypoo, Wango, Mango, Banana, Becca, Becky, Bex etc.
But I always just stick with Rebecca.
Self Portrait

Favourite subject?
Resistant materials. If you don’t know what that is, it is not just drilling/sawing/ planning/ sanding wood. It’s more than that… it’s a way of life. Nah, being serious, most design and technologies actually involve very little practical. We seem to spend most of our time drawing designs and learning theory, which I really enjoy. A close second would be chemistry and in third place would be another science or maths.
Albert Feleinstein returns with a chemistry joke!
Wow, I'm such a nerd.

For more witty and banterous science jokes, I Can Haz Cheezburger has a extensive selection.

Favourite drink?
I used to love drinking fruit juice - especially orange juice - but drinking so much from a young age has had a detrimental effect on my teeth (acidity). I do like some plain H2O most of the time (Wow, I’m literally so lame.) I am slowly warming up to (English) tea; I was never really a heavy tea drinker. Would soup count as a favourite drink? If so, I would say that potato and leek, or a warm rustic pumpkin soup etc. Mhmm…

Favourite band/artist?
I can vividly remember someone asking me this exact question when I was roughly 7 years old. I replied “Green Day”, even though I don’t think I had listened too much of their music. It may just have been because Green was my favourite colour at the time, and I thought that if I said a rock band, they would think I was cool. But throughout years after that occasion, I grew to love them, and they DID become my favourite band. I don’t really listen to them much more – they haven’t made a new album in sometime. 21st Century Breakdown was slightly disappointing compared to American Idiot, but they do have a Broadway musical which sounds awesome. As for now, I like too many bands and artists to just have one favourite. Go on my Facebook profile if you want to see a more extensive list of people I like.

What would you name your kids?
Hmm, good question. I have always liked names which are unusual/uncommon, but are known as being names. Being called Rebecca, I have always been in a class where there have been multiple people of the same name. I like names that are original, but aren’t so unique that no one can pronounce it. I like Evelyn for girls, Felix and Harrison for boys.

Any pets?
Well, we keep fish, but they are very, very, very old and most of the time, they are belly up… Fish suck, once they die, I don’t think we should look after them anymore. It must be quite monotonous swimming around a tank in circles whilst being blinded by a blasting light from above.

Favourite colour?
My favourite colour has changed several times in my lifetime so far. The first colour in my living memory that I can remember liking was blue, then turquoise, orange, purple, green and now I suppose my favourite colour is red maybe? Everything that I seem to currently to be buying/dying is red: school bag, ukulele, hair. However, my favourite group of colours would include burgundy, wine, navy, silver, black (even though not technically a colour).
This nebula pretty much sums up all my favourite colours. Pretty.

Favourite movie?
I like Moulin Rouge and Mulan / Aladdin or some other random Disney movies (they are my childhood!). It’s not my favourite movie, but I watched Ip Man the other day and it is a very good. I’m not really that knowledgeable when it comes to movie though, I don’t watch that many compared to most people!

Favourite year of life?
I have terrible memory, thus can’t really remember my younger years more that vividly, but that suggests to me that they mustn’t have been that interesting. My favourite year, by far, would’ve been year 9: 2010. It was a good year at school: good stable group of friends and it’s a bit of a pointless year as there are no major exams and most people doss around in lessons anyway since they aren’t going to pursue it to GCSE. The holidays were what made it though. In January, I went to Finland to visit my uncle and also go skiing which is always lovely, and then in Easter and summer, I met some of the best people I have ever known at camp, and made some truly awesome friends.

Favourite quote?
Live to eat, not eat to live. (I’m a fatty at heart)
Life goes on.

What type of phone do you have?
At this current moment none, since I have managed to lose my indestructible and terrible Nokia (argh!). I hope that my dad will now buy me a new phone. ;)

How tall are you?
Short.
"You're so short, you smell of feet!" I hear you cry.

I personally feel like all I seem to do on this blog is talk about me. I acknowledge that it is suppose to be my own personal creative space, but I feel like I end up always talking about my life, which really isn’t the interesting. However, I do like the concept of a “tag” game online, where basically you answer some questions, and then tag someone else to also respond to the questions. I would love to get to know all of you guys better too, so, I TAG:

And anyone else who wants to answer these questions in the comments!
Here are the questions complied together:
1.       Nicknames?
2.       Favourite subject?
3.       Favourite drink?
4.       Favourite band/artist?
5.       What would you name your kids?

Rebecca x
P.S. I hate writing these types of posts, as my life is boring, but I have serious writer's block!

Likes and Loathes

This is what I have been liking and loathing in the last week.
What I have been liking.
LIKES:
+1: New telly.
I swear all the good TV programs have all finished. But since our old telly has died, we have a new one, which is huge and a selection of glorious HD channels. They mostly replay old David Attenborough documentaries on them, but I don’t mind.
+1: Making sushi.
Yesterday, I decided to make some sushi for the sake of it. They don’t taste great, but it was fun rollin’ rollin’ rollin’.
Here are 3 songs related to rolling.
Speaking of Adele, did anyone see her Royal Albert Hall concert, which was broadcasted on New Year’s Day? Absolutely amazing.

+1: Windy weather.

Recently here in England, there has been extemely windy weather, which I LOVE. Don't ask me why, it's just invigorating. Obviously not to the extend of tornados and hurricanes.

+1: Middle Partings.

A side parting is so year 8.
LOATHES:
-1: Waking up early and just school in general
During the holidays, waking up at 11am had become routine. Now with school starting again, attempting to wake up 4 hours earlier certainly was a struggle. I have an alarm on phone at 7:00am, but I managed to press the snooze button a total of 10 times (unconsciously!) until it was 7.40am when I realised what the time was, and panicked. I also forgot that it would be dark in the mornings. However, this morning I was greeted with a lovely stripy sunrise (how cheesy) which put me in a slightly better mood, I suppose.
Usually after a holiday, I always very slightly look forward to the return of school, simply because I usually get bored of wasting time during the holidays. However, this time, it has been different. Immediately I have hit with a stream of CONTROLLED ASSESSMENTS, COURSEWORK, EXAMS, CONCERTS, REHEARSALS, and DEADLINES. I know I shouldn’t complain; I am a student, this is what we are expected to endure.  I am sure some people have it way worse, but for me, it’s all a bit of a headache.
-1: Accidently biting into a peppercorn.
If anyone has Chinese parents who use Sichuan peppercorns in their cooking, they will probably understand the tremendous numbing hot spiciness that comes with accidently biting into one of these tiny balls of fire.
-1: Being dehydrated.
I am so terrible when it comes to drinking water. I drink no water at all whilst at school, mostly because of my own fault of not bringing in a bottle; therefore I am always really dehydrated.

Ciao for now! See you tomorrow for the last day of BEDTW!*

Rebecca x
P.S. After reading this post and summing up all my others to date, I have even more New Year’s Resolutions to add to all the others I have in my other post, “New Year’s Resolutions”. You can never have too many of them.
1.       Stop making such long blog posts (although I think this is almost inevitably going to happen with the return of school)
2.       Substantially reduce my use of the “XD” smiley
3.       Drink more water
P.P.S. My posts have been rather lack lustre recently; I will come up with some better content soon!
