Spaced out

I have no idea why there is a pixel gap in this photography - it wasn't there when I was editing!
I took half of these pictures with this top untucked but I have decided that I prefer it tucked in. Yup - it's another galaxy/nebula/cosmic print top. This time it's sparkly - yay. I decided to match it with a beanie with lots of rhinestone gems on it. Some may say it's tacky and completely weather inappropriate considering its suppose to be the middle of summer, but I like it and I thought it went well with the outfit. Also, my hair was a complete mess and it's a good way of hiding that fact.

Here is a close up of the jewellery. I'm wearing my silver chain from this haul, as well as a gold spiky bracelet from Topshop.

And here is another close of some other jewellery you may not have noticed. On the right is my trusty Winnie the Pooh catch and this hamsa hand bracelet I found lying round the house! On the left is the hair wrap I did yesterday! It was a bit of a fail, as I started off with 4 colours, but I ran out of thread about half way down the length of my hair. Thus, where the wrap randomly gets wider is where I had to join another two strands to the wrap so it was long enough. I followed this tutorial by Sara from WAISTE and it was surprisingly easily, so I recommend everyone to try it out.

Oh yeah, I wrote a post on my second blog, PeaaBrained, about my views on the fashion blogging community so far. I thought I might as well include it in this post too, since this is where all me readers are.

"This month I went full storm ahead with persuing my ScatterrBrained blog in a more fashion related direction. Here are the things I like and dislike about the fashion blogging community

Likes
  1. The fact that it is a community.
    1.  Some people really do leave some thoughtful comments and it makes me realise that all this time I've spent faffing round with editing/photography etc. is actually worthwhile and some people actually like it.
  2. The fact that some ridiculously gorgeous people are following my blog!
    1. I find it really flattering that some of my followers on my ScatterrBrained blog have far superior/better style than me, and the fact that they actually, stupidly chose to spend time reading my posts when they are so much more stylish than me is amazing.
  3. The fact that I'm global!
    1. I have readers from all over the weird its crazy! I'm almost as global as MJBeats, but unfortunately I don't have any readers from Chad! (CGS joke)
Dislikes
  1. The fact that I feel like I waste my life "proving I'm not a robot".
    1. It's actually quite ridiculous - sometimes the words they come up with are so hard to read, I can't even decipher them!"

Cosmic generation

T-shirt - DIY River Island, shorts - local shop, maxi skirt - mother's, shoes - Vans
Today I had my French and music GCSE exam. Luckily music wasn't too bad, but French, on the other hand, was pretty disastrous. The exam paper was so tricky in the sense that in a multiple choice question, every single option was pretty much mentioned, with only small prepositions and connectives used to flip the meaning of it, so you would have to really listen seriously closely. I just hope that since everyone found it hard, the grade boundaries will be low, as otherwise I am screwed.

On the flip side, since I am now on study leave, I went home an hour early and instead of studying, I used this time to photograph my outfit. I got this t-shirt originally from the men's section of River Island in a size XS, but it ended up too small as I wanted it baggy. Thus, I decided to DIY-it, and made it cropped. However, you can probably tell that I accidental cut it wonky after being so self-confident and adamant that I would be able to cut it straight. I don't want to cut it even more though, as I realise I will probably cut it too much and make it far too short.

Anyway, back to the outfit, I decided to style it with both a maxi skirt and these shorts. I'm wearing my most worn shoes - they have gone round the globe with me. I have worn these pink kangaroo Vans so much that there are two huge holes where my big toe has poked through the shoes, but I love them too much to throw them away. They are also the type of shoe that looks better with age.

On the radio they were playing House of Pain's Jump Around, and I was inspired to take some jumping picture  No ScatterrBrained post would be complete without some silly pictures!
Excuse the midriff.
Cheers big ears!

P.S. This post's title is "Cosmic generation" as this was the lame slogan on my t-shirt before I cut it.
P.P.S. I have made the picture gigantic today, yay.
P.P.P.S Bonus GIF for you guys, yay.

I am so hipster like - Nebulae

As you can probably tell from the header above this post, I am a huge fan of nebula print things. However, this is soon becoming associated with the youth sub-culture, that is being a "hipster". A few years ago it would be used to describe shorts/pants that sit low on your pelvis, but "today, the term is predominantly used as a pejorative label to describe someone who outwardly seeks nonconformity through niche consumerism and boycott against mainstream culture.", according to knowyourmeme.com.

This subculture is not to be confused with other mainstream-loathing, artistic elitist stereotypes, such as being "indie" or "scene", but they are much the same. They say they are against following trends and feel that they are above the norm by expressing their "individuality", when in reality, ironically, they all seem to dress/act in a same fashion. For example for hipsters, they to all seem to coincidentally have a soft spot for, triangles, galaxy print, messy hair, moustaches and Rayban Wayfarer glasses.
This post is going to be focused on galaxy print, and more specifically: nebulae.
A nebula is a cloud interstellar gas and dust. Some nebulae are the remnants of a supernova explosion, when in other cases are gravity-induced condensations of gases, which may lead to the formation of a star.

WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE LIFE AND DEATH OF A STAR?
Pretty cool video eh? We made it in Physics.

Anyway, back to what we were talking about, there are 5 main types of nebulae:
  1. Cold clouds that reflect light from nearby stars are reflection nebulae.
  2. The Trifid Nebula is an example of a reflection nebulae.
  3. Hot, ionising clouds that glow their own light are known as emission nebulae
  4. The Orion Nebula is an example of an emission nebula
  5. Cold clouds that absorb passing light from background stars are known as dark nebulae.
  6. The Horsehead Nebula is an example of a dark nebula.
  7. Shells of gas produced by a star near the end of its life cycle is known as a planetary nebulae.
  8. The Cat's Eye Nebula is an example of a planetary nebula.
  9. When a supernova at the end of a star's life and a large amount of matter is blown into space, this matter glows with the remains of the star, and is know as a supernova remnant.
  10. The Crab Nebula is an example of a supernova remnant
The main reason why I think they are so beautiful is because of the glowing colours produced by different gases: nitrogen (red), hydrogen (green), oxygen (blue), and helium (violet). It is also quite extraordinary to even start to comprehend just the vast scale of these interstellar clouds, and just the fact that these amazing images actually exist in space.

Nebula Print in Clothing
After Christopher Kane's 2011 Spring/Summer pre-collection with a variety of space printed garments, this has been a popular trend among fashion blogs and of course, in the infamous tumblr. I am obviously a huge fan of this trend because if it is done well, it can look amazing, but it can easily end up looking really tacky and cheap.

P.S. I am seriously falling behind with my write a blog post every other day commitment. I am trying but it takes me so long to write and edit a post - one hour minimum! Sorry guys, but I have GCSEs. :(
